Lissy Boesen
"Ideas come to me while observing the creative play of children on statues, uprooted trees, large stones and similar objects. You can see how they almost instinctively begin to climb."
- Lissy Boesen
She describes her work for Richter Spielgeräte as follows: “They play 'cops and robbers’ or make believe the stones are a fortress. But places like these can be dangerous play places – there are many rough bits, sharp edges or protruding parts. Why not instead offer children concrete sculptures, that allow them to develop their powers of imagination and fulfil their desire to climb without any danger of hurting themselves?”
Lissy Boesen studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière Paris. After completing her diploma, she worked as a stage designer in Helsinki and created puppet films for Danish television. Apart from her play sculptures, Lissy Boesen has created a wide range of objects from the area of applied art. She created small sculptures for Stone-Art Belgium and has been working together with Richter Spielgeräte GmbH since 1999, where she is responsible for designing the “Stroking Stones” product range.
